Mostly reminders this week, but trying to get and keep everyone up to date!  Instructors are also mentioning these updates in class, so listen up!

Early Morning Class Time Moving to 5:15 AM
Beginning Tuesday September 5th, ALL early morning classes will start at 5:15 AM (rather than 5:30 AM).  Why the change?  It’s based on results from our survey earlier this year.  A number of folks have been needing to step out early for work and family obligations, so we’re adjusting to help make it work for everyone!  No changes to any other class times.

New Classes Days / Times
More bang for your buck!  More class times are coming!  Also beginning the week of September 5th, we’re adding the following classes / times.  We’re looking at adding Corps Fitness classes every day of the week as well, so stay tuned.
– Wednesday 6:45 PM CrossFit
– Thursday 9:45 AM CrossFit Hybrid
– Sunday 9:45 AM CrossFit
As with all new classes, we will closely monitor the attendance, and keep the classes as long as warranted by participation.  So if you like it, be there!

We are continually looking to offer more, so stay tuned, and THANK YOU for your suggestions!!

Next Free Intro
September 2nd at 9:30 AM with Chris

Badge 27 Reunion – Follow up
Thank you to all current and former Operation Badge 27 members who participated in the reunion August 12th!  It was a great class with many who have continued attending CF since they were indoctrinated in the Badge 27 program.  We also had a chance to thank and honor Alecia, who generously supports these programs at Corps Fitness in honor of Kyle, helping us keep his spirit and legacy alive.

Badge 27 Team Challenge!
October 28th we’ll hold the second annual Badge 27 Call to Action challenge!  MORE challenges, SHORTER course.  Get your team of 4 together NOW.  Registration officially opens in early September.  Want to participate but your friends are chickening out?  Email Melissa and she’ll do her best to get you on a team!

Rauenzahns in Tanzania
Greetings from the Rauenzahns in Tanzania!!!  Rob and Kim and clan are in their 2nd week in Africa participating in a medical missions trip. Rob sent along some pics of Dr. Kim in action using many of the medical supplies so generously donated by all of YOU!!! Many injuries in their area are burns caused by open flame cooking. In the first pic below, Dr. Kim is treating a young girl who experienced such an injury. Many thanks once again for your generosity in donating (or purchasing a t-shirt whose proceeds paid for additional supplies)!
Thanks for sending the pics Rob Rauenzahn! Enjoy the remainder of your trip and safe travels home!20449221_1516841335043672_6173630127739294582_o 20615843_1516841421710330_1887983105722101808_o 20451959_1516841515043654_6328212064216569021_o

“One who has control over the mind is tranquil in heat and cold, in pleasure and pain; and is ever steadfast with the Supreme Self.”…Batavi
– A quote from CF’s eternal philosopher Johnnie (from the old Corps Fitness blog…)

But anyway, heat can be dangerous and can kill.  Please heed the posted warnings in the gym, and listen to your body.  We’d rather have you step out for a workout than suffer worse consequences.  Don’t wait for someone else to give you the OK to step out.  Educate yourself, use your brain, and be smart!

What happens at Bldg 7 during Corps Fitness down-time?  Well, IM ABLE uses the space and provides some incredible fitness opportunities to some who may not have the chance otherwise.  Check out Dorian and his friends with Abilities in Motion, and others from the Spring Valley YMCA in Limerick exploring possible collaborations!

Moon Hero Workout
Last week, CFers gathered together to honor Army Specialist Christopher Moon.  Thank you to all who have served, are currently serving, or just starting out their journey of service to our country.  Your sacrifices do not go unnoticed.
