Happy Birthday to our longtime CF’er & friend Maria Nawa! From the early days of these 2005 “outside at Gring’s Mill” pics to now, where despite being past your 2nd 21st bday (53 to be exact!) you still have the heart to attack all challenges as well as be an example for others of all ages to follow.

Thank you for making this place a big part of your and your family’s life!

Also does anyone recognize the young ones standing next to her??  Look at those adorable baby Nawas!!

CFers always respond to the call.  We rise up, we dig in, and we contribute to great causes.

Later this summer, Rob and Kim Rauenzahn and their kids will be traveling to a small village near Magambua in Tanzania, Africa.  Their purpose?  Kim will be working with another local doctor on a medical mission trip for the people of this area.

CF would like to support this noble cause by taking a collection of much-needed medical supplies that Dr. Kim and Dr. Jonathan can take with them to treat their patients

What is needed:
– Extra strength Tylenol
– Children’s Tylenol
– Advil and/or Motrin for adults
– Advil and/or Motrin for children
– Antibiotic ointment (such as Neosporin)
– Gauze of all types to dress wounds (many of which are caused by burns from open-fire cooking)
– Medical cling wrap (Telfa Ouches Non-Adherent Dressing)

We will being collecting donations May 22nd and finish with a special tribute workout on Saturday, June 3!

Did you know that May 11th is National Corps Fitness Trainer Appreciation Day?  Well, it’s new… but since everything apparently needs to have a ‘day’ nowadays, it was really only a matter of time…

But, seriously, let’s hear it for our Corps Fitness Trainers!!  They don’t just show up for an hour of class a few times a week.  They spend countless hours outside of CF planning, re-thinking, second-guessing, and educating themselves to try to come up with the best programming, most challenging and creative classes, and motivating all of you awesome CFers!!  Oh, and did I mention they also workout / train in several classes a week as well?

So let’s give a big THANK YOU to our trainers!  We appreciate everything you do!!  Even if sometimes it leaves us delirious in a puddle of sweat and we want to get you back (but we don’t have the energy)…

A huge shout out and THANK YOU to Rob and Kim Rauenzahn for sponsoring Corps Fitness to be an Official Host to the Murph Challenge, presented by Forged.

This annual event serves as a major fundraiser for the Lt. Michael P. Murphy Scholarship Foundation which presents over 22 scholarships each year as well as making contributions to other very worthy organizations.  If you would like to be officially registered (registration will get you a free tank or t-shirt and you will be able to submit your time to see how you compare around the country), you can do so here: https://themurphchallenge.com/pages/register  The cost to be officially registered is $40 or $60 for gold level (additionally get a hat).  Remember, all proceeds go to the Foundation.

And, even if you do not officially register, you still can join in the “fun”.  This “fun” will be held on Saturday, May 27th at 8:30AM.  This will be the ONLY class at CF that day.   For those of you who have never participated or have never done the “Murph” workout, here is a quote from the website that serves as a great motivation to get it done.

“The ’MURPH’ is more than just a workout, it is a tradition that helps push us, humble us, and dedicate a bit of pain and sweat to honor a man who gave everything he had.”

Looking for a big crowd to gut out “Murph” on May 27th….can’t wait to see you there!  Thanks again Rob & Kim!!!

**We encourage ALL CFers to come try out Murph.  If you are new or worried about making it through the workout, remember, there are always ways to scale for your fitness level.** Please read the Murph waiver carefully, and DON’T GET RHABDO!! (The post linked below sums up a lot of history on the CF blog about rhabdo – no sense reinventing the wheel.  And since you’re here reading about Murph, you should also take some time to educate yourself about rhabdo and how NOT to get it.)
