Wednesday Form: Curves

Maintain the Lumbar Curve. Lock the midline down, then fight it. Basically, it requires “doing abs” the entire class. Squat, lift, press, push, jump, pull…midline stability…good abs…great form.

Work it for two weeks, not surrendering the lumbar curve on various movements…feel your “core” respond, and your back will then thank you!

Abs and DEFINITELY thoracic muscles working in conjunction to keep your biceps by your ears. That’s why all those seemingly insignificant back exercises are critical – so we have to the strength to work against our strong abs, which want to pull us forward. All midline, all the time.

p.s. Happy Birthday Matt D! Post an on-topic comment and you’ll make his day!! 🙂

    Happy Birthday, Matt!

On topic…Yoga has strengthened my lower back incredibly. Having the mobility and strength enables tight core ALL THE TIME. Also, GHD sit ups and hip extensions are huge in any posterior/lower back training. I’ve come to the conclusion that all movements are relative, they start and begin in the core.

    Happy Birthday M.D. PHREAK….HAH!!

I reckon as you move a weight exponentially farther away from the core muscles in your torso, the more these muscles influence the successful execution of a given exercise with that weight…anyway, that is what I think!
