It’s interesting how the ideologies of CF and CrossFit have been catching on with the mainstream media; like this stuff is some sort of magic delivered by the wave of Merlin’s wand. The military has also used basic human powered movements for a long time to get recruits fit. Maybe even the eastern bloc countries of the Berlin Wall days were using some of these techniques to produce some of those PHREAKS back in the day. Whatever the motivation it’s still good to see and everytime I venture from the confines of my humble abode I see stark evidence to support the idea that this stuff is sorely needed in mainstream America. The obesity and overall very poor fitness level of the majority of Americans is costing us all dearly, throw in the sugars and processed foods they are consuming and it’s plain to see why healthcare costs are out of control. It is time for people to lose sight of the shore and let go of their false safety net in the disguise of security, and return to the days that used to be…

Great article! It’s slightly ironic: now that humans no longer have to run, throw, lift and climb to stay alive, some of us actively seek out such activities to stay fit… Our bodies are made to move, not to sit at a desk all day. Thanks for the reminder!
