Tuesday Attitude: Really?

“The body doesn’t lie.” -Martha Graham

A few early updates to mark on your calendars:
1) Capture the Flag: click icon to sign up, or sign up at the gym. Draft night October 29.

2) October 22, 9:45-10:30. Amy Sharkey Kindred Spirits Yoga. Several CFers use this as a complement (yes, as in…to complete) to their CF conditioning. The mobility, flexibility, balance,┬ábody awareness and control achieved through Yoga is crucial to your success and longevity at Corps Fitness (esp. anyone attending any CrossFit classes should make a point to integrate this into your weekly workouts). DJ highly recommends it!

Whenever I’m going to Amy’s yoga class on a regular basis, all of my ailments fade out. My left leg was in such a decrepit state from June-August…I was miserable just about 24/7. I went back to yoga in Sept and now feel only the slightest twinge.

Yoga gives you tremendous feedback about your Self, fosters body awareness (which is very helpful at CF) and allows you to control your breathing in a totally different way. It’s hard work – no doubt about it. Like all we do, you can’t go through the motions. Form counts. When you focus everything you have on the positions and your body alignment, it can be quite painful – but the release afterward is what it’s all about.

(If anyone thinks yoga isn’t all that and a bag of chips, take one look at Maria Cintron. ‘Nuff said.)

The yoga connection makes perfect sense to create balance and to lengthen the muscles contracted during continuous CF classes. Give it a try and see what you think!

Scott – those are awesome! What more motivation do you need to move to a heavier weight than that demon face looking back at you?? Maybe we can get Tom Kaag on board with his foundry connections… who wants to be first to have their face on a Corps Fitness Bell?
