ISSA Certfified Fitness Instructor, former Army Sergeant :

My enlistment in the United States Army has helped shape me into the person I am today. Along with instilment of brotherhood and camaraderie, the Army has made physical fitness and integral part of my life. As an Army Sergeant one of my priorities was maintaining the fitness and well-being of my soldiers, and I continue to use this mentality as I lead and instruct others in workouts that focus on improving strength, flexibility, and functional range of motion.

I will never forget the first time coming to a CF class. I remember thinking "this isn't working out" and this isn't for me. But by then it was too late. A fire had been lit on the inside, my natural instinct to continue the fight with an obvious weakness had kicked in, so I came back. I was more of a drop in athlete for many years until last year at the All out in Berks challenge. Even after being gone and training at other CrossFit gyms I knew that with all the warm welcomes and a few hugs that Corps Fitness was my home and I needed to come back. So its been almost one year and I love it. We are a family. We train together, eat together, share in our achievements, and receive help with our weaknesses. CF is my home and will be for as long as possible. If I can share one thing with anyone in regards to training it would be: Never give up, even after you fall or fail, keep showing up and continue to put in work because one day its going to pay off.
Joe came to an intro class in August of 2017 looking for something new to challenge him. After doing at home workout programs, running numerous trail races, 5K’s, 10K’s, and Half Marathons, culminating in the Vernon Spartan Beast, he knew after 2 weeks, that Corps Fitness would never be the same workout twice and would be the place that could take him to the next level of fitness. Being the manager of Corps Fitness CrossFit Berks means that I have to set that example and get in fantastic shape and stay there. I’m excited to be helping people crush their goals and then set new, higher, loftier goals – goals that they may not have ever thought they could possibly reach.
Kevin first joined Corps Fitness CrossFit Berks on a punch card in 2008. Following some injuries he took some time away from the gym before finding his way back home in 2016. He grew up in Freehold, NJ before moving to Philadelphia to earn a bachelor degree from Philadelphia University. He moved to Reading when he and his family purchased Classic Harley-Davidson in 1998. Corps Fitness CrossFit Berks has become the Kodz family gym of choice as Kevin, his wife, Amanda and their 12 year old daughter, Maria are all members.
