Friday: Food for Thought …Organic?

Is organic a scam?  Read around and make your own informed decision… there are several resources and discussion boards available, not to mention knowledgeable CFers and other friends.

Great reading on this topic includes The Omnivore’s Dilemma (M. Pollan), In Defense of Food (M. Pollan) and Food Inc.

GMOs and the avarice behind their perpetuation is going to be the end of our species – not only from the direct impact they’re having as they rewrite human DNA but also from the destruction of the very resources used to grow food in the first place. Pandora’s Box. Bad, bad, bad.

After watching this video, you will never, ever regret a single opportunity you’ve had or will have to eat organic foods – especially your kids!

GREAT recommended reading. I have both of the books mentioned if anyone wants to borrow them. It’s amazing how a family’s food choices will eventually rub off on their children…after some complaint, we are starting to see our kids make their own smart food choices…LOVE IT! Makes it all worth while. MUST teach the next generation to live off the land…organically, no GMO’s ….now need to go watch the video Jan posted 🙂

Thanks for the video – watching it really brings a lot into question about where our food comes from and how it has gotten to this point… It is eye-opening!

Organic Trade Association just dropped an email with news about the American Academy of Pediatrics’ clinical report highlighting the benefits of organic. See here. Yeeeha!

Some entity that is closely tied to parents has to start stepping up for the kids! Parents just don’t know. When I hear those EPA commercials for “lead paint safe certified contractors,” I lose my ever-loving mind. How about some accountability and certs where Big Agra / factory farming is concerned? FDA and EPA are all bought out.
